Over 45 Years’ Experience in the Practice of Federal Oil and Gas, Natural Resources, and Public Land Law

Jason R. Warran, Attorney at Law, assists the oil and gas exploration and production sector and other clients in matters of public land law, natural resources law, and federal oil and gas leasing.  The firm serves clients on issues regarding federal lands and minerals throughout the Eastern United States, including the Gulf Coast, Appalachia, and Michigan, as well as in other parts of the country.  We have an extensive, multi-generational background in onshore federal  leasing, dating back to the enactment of the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920.  Our offices are located in close proximity to the federal government in Washington, DC, as well as to the Bureau of Land Management’s Eastern States Office and the Interior Board of Land Appeals; and we practice before those agencies and the federal courts.

In our federal oil and gas leasing practice, we furnish lease opinions and information regarding federal leasing activity, including advice on BLM operations and on issues affecting the availability of federal lands for leasing.  We work with oil and gas companies, landmen, and other attorneys on matters including the lease nomination and bidding process; lease assignments; communitization and unit agreements; and drilling permits.

In our public lands practice, we assist clients with such matters as establishing original severance of land title from the public domain; resolving severance defects through BLM actions ranging from correction of severance instruments to color of title; and addressing title implications of federal land surveys.
